OUR EDUCATION PLAN

Putting Hoosier Students First

As a father of five and husband to a schoolteacher, Curtis understands that Hoosier parents are concerned about the quality of education their children receive. As governor, Curtis envisions an Indiana education system free of federal entanglements, returning back to the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic while enhancing academic rigor. Teachers understand the unique challenges and needs in their classrooms, not an entrenched bureaucrat in an office hundreds of miles away. Students should not be trapped by failing schools with limited options simply because of the street on which they live. An advocate for school choice, Curtis believes education dollars should follow the student rather than the system. If strong options are limited, many students have no meaningful choice. That is why Curtis will buck the status quo and ensure that schools and students have the resources they need to be successful. Indianapolis has neglected Hoosier schools for long enough. It is time for bold, conservative reforms so Hoosier students are prepared to compete and excel in a rapidly globalizing economy. As governor, Curtis will eradicate destructive DEI programs in classrooms and universities. He will enhance post-K-12 continuing development by investing in programs that promote vocational, collegiate, and military training. Curtis will ensure that Hoosier students are in classroom environments free from radical indoctrination, where they will learn how to think critically in preparation for a lifetime of learning. As a father of five public school graduates, Curtis understands the important role parents play in their children’s education – they are responsible for supporting and enhancing their children’s education. When parents are encouraged to take responsibility for understanding their child's needs, they can facilitate active learning and bring the classroom into the living room. Hoosiers are hungry for a proven conservative who will take bold steps to protect our children. As governor, Curtis’ top priority will be defending our students and getting big government out of our classrooms.

Going Back to the Basics

Hoosier students should be graduating with the tools and resources they need to live successful lives right here in Indiana. That means we must get back to the basics and teach our kids how to be productive members of our community. We must rid our classrooms of politicized curriculum and get back to the basics of reading, writing, arithmetic, and civics. By educating our children on basic fundamentals, we give them the power to become engaged citizens in a successful workforce.

Getting DEI Out of Hoosier Classrooms

From the very beginning of his campaign, Curtis Hill launched a war against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, announcing his intentions to abolish Indiana’s Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Opportunity. DEI is not a substitute for excellence, competence, and fairness. As governor, Curtis will ensure these same radical policies are not in our schools and universities. Publicly funded universities in Indiana have wasted millions of taxpayer dollars propping up these offices and initiatives that do nothing but drive a wedge between different groups of people. As governor, Curtis Hill will defund all public DEI initiatives and ensure that Hoosier students have supportive environments that do not discourage excellence because of their background.

Cutting Bureaucratic Red Tape

Indianapolis should not be meddling in Hoosier classrooms. As governor, Curtis Hill will cut bureaucratic red tape that prevents quality and compassionate educators from becoming educators through lateral entry. Being a teacher requires a special calling, and Hoosiers who accept that calling and make the jump into teaching should be supported, not discouraged. Indiana’s Department of Education is one of the most bloated state agencies, with more than 260 administrative staff members. As governor, Curtis Hill will reduce the size of the Department of Education and return control to school systems. Hoosier tax dollars should be going to Hoosier students, not a bloated government agency in Indianapolis. Curtis will also break away from federal entanglements by encouraging and incentivizing local school districts to stop accepting money that is bound by radical progressive agendas.

Protecting the Integrity of Women’s Sports

Radical transgender initiatives are allowing biological boys to compete in girls' sports and use girls' locker rooms. As governor, Curtis Hill will not let this happen in Indiana. Radical progressives across the country are trying to implement gender policies that violate the rights of students and the rights of their parents. As governor, Curtis Hill will prevent teachers from hiding gender identity from parents and forbid boys from participating in girls' sports.
